How PakSpeed Builds the Community Speed Map
The PakSpeed map is built from community internet speed tests submitted by people across Pakistan. Each test can help measure download speed, upload speed, ping latency, ISP performance, and city-level connectivity quality. The map is designed to make internet quality visible for ordinary users, researchers, journalists, and communities that need better evidence.
Map markers should be read as public-interest signals, not as exact promises about every street or home. A city can contain many different connection types: fiber, DSL, fixed wireless, cable, 4G, 5G, shared Wi-Fi, and office networks. Two users in the same city can see different results because of package speed, router placement, mobile signal, building materials, device age, or peak evening congestion.
What Makes a Map Result Reliable?
Reliability improves when tests come from many users, providers, neighborhoods, devices, and times of day. A city with many repeated tests is easier to compare than a city with only a few early measurements. PakSpeed therefore treats the map as a living dataset that becomes stronger as more people run tests from their own connections.
When a marker is green, it usually means stronger average download speed. Yellow suggests mid-range performance. Red highlights slower community measurements. Circle size reflects test density, so a large marker with many tests is usually more meaningful than a small marker with limited evidence.
Privacy Boundary
PakSpeed does not publish personal IP addresses on the map. Public results focus on aggregated connectivity patterns: city, ISP, speed, latency, and test density. Optional exact-location permissions are handled separately from the general city-level map experience, and users should read the privacy policy before sharing precise location.
How to Contribute Better Evidence
Run a test near your router or with strong mobile signal, then test again during peak evening hours. If possible, compare Wi-Fi and mobile data separately. Repeated tests help show whether a slowdown is temporary, device-specific, package-related, city-wide, or provider-wide.
